Leonardo Padura Fuentes, a contemporary Cuban writer, delivers a series of novels that have been classified by critics under the epithet of “detective novel.” Though this is indeed true, it must be stressed that there are certain textual clues that seem not to resonate with the detective fiction genre and could be perceived as incongruent with such categorization. Nevertheless, it is one of these clues, as a fundamental conduit, upon which this study is based, a study that focuses primarily on gastronomic disarticulation.
