Mobile application development for smartphonesis a trend in the telecommunications industry. However, theirdeployment is not seamless since many applications are notmobile network-friendly. A key problem that frequently arisesis an excessive number of signaling messages, known as signalingstorms. This leads to very high overhead and a decrease inoperator income.We focus on this problem and propose an approach that isbased on an information-centric networking deployment at theaccess network. We compute the number of signaling messagesand derive the conditions under which our approach leadsto fewer messages than the approach that is used in currentnetworks. We also argue about the network and application layermodifications that are needed for the adoption of our method.
