CONSUMO PROBLEMÁTICO DE ALCOHOL EN COSTA RICA Y SU RELACIÓN CON ANTECEDENTES DE ABUSO SEXUAL

Abstract

The global literature has suggested a close relationship between alcohol abuse and riskysexual behaviors. However, little data are available regarding this issue in local population, and how sexual abuse during childhood may be a particularrisk for alcohol abuse and risky sexual behaviors. The current study was intended to examine the associations between sexual abuse during childhood and adolescence and later alcohol abuse or dependency. This relationship could not be established, apparently due to methodological aspects and other situations which are specifically discussed
