The problem of treating chronic osteomyelitis remains urgent to date. The treatment of this disease is not only a medical but also a social problem, since more than 65 % of patients are of working age. Despite a sufficient number of modern methods of surgical treatment proposed, many surgeons continue to use ineffective operations – dissection without excision, sequestrectomy without cavity treatment, wound tampanade after focal sanitization. Technical issues of sanitizing manuals and options for the reconstruction of bone and soft tissue defects remain unresolved.
