Die Deutsche Genbank Zierpflanzen - Beitrag zur Erhaltung und Nutzung pflanzengenetischer Ressourcen national und international

Abstract

Ornamental plants with their enormous variety of species and varieties do build an important part of plant genetic resources and by this of the biological diversity as a whole. Relevant frameworks, such as the Convention on Biological Diversity and the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture are described as well as the state of their national implementation. Against this background the constitution and further development of the national Genebank for Ornamentals will be outlined as well as the contributions to the implementation of the afore mentioned international framework.
