Imaginar es recordar : memoria y deseo en la primera novela de Antonio Muñoz Molina, "Beatus ille"
Abstract
The narrative memory of Muñoz Molina unites an autobiographical character with the recuperation of the collective history of the losing front in the Spanish civil war. In this article we analyze the importance of the melancholical memory as a methode for self-recognition and rebellion against the past searching for unfulfilled desires. This double instance of a reconstruction of the memory forms part of the ethical and socio-political debt that the narrative of Spanish democracy has due to its recalling of the civil war.
