Edwin Honig's 'Fernando Pessoa: A Translator's View'

Abstract

At the Pessoa centenary meetings in Lisbon in 1988, Edwin Honig read a paper entitled "Fernando Pessoa: A Translator's View," which concluded with his poem "Pessoa's Last Masquerade." It was published as such in the conference proceedings. However, there survives the Secretaria de Estado da Cultura's translation of the paper into Portuguese (except for Honig's poem, which is transcribed but left in English). This translation is now published for the first time.
