Protection profiles and archival strategies

Abstract

The contribution summarizes, underlining the specificities of the archives, the main nodes of the national legislation on the protection of cultural heritage, applying them to the case of the Supino photographic archive of the University of Bologna. Some brief reflections on the most suitable descriptive methodologies for a photographic archive follow. In particular, the notion of context is highlighted, which may allow a unitary and coherent view of the fonds in question, applied both to the producer and to the methods of historical settlement of the documents.
