O texto foi elaborado analisando o trabalho de Elias, intitulado On human beings and their emotions: a process-sociological essay, partindo do princípio que a teoria sobre o processo civilizador ainda está em elaboração, procura emitir sugestões para (re)pensar a continuidade dos traços gerais da teoria proposta pelo autor.
