Recognizing the role of psychiatric comorbidities: a response to the Danish Colorectal Screening Program
Abstract
Inayat Hussain Khan, Tasnim Chowdhury Faculty of Medicine, St George’s Hospital Medical School, London, UKWe took great interest in the recent article by Thomsen et al1 outlining factors which predicted adherence to follow-up diagnostic colonoscopy in the Danish Colorectal Screening Program. This is particularly relevant as colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second most common cause of cancer mortality worldwide.2 Evaluating factors which affect screening uptake and follow-up are pivotal to public health as early detection of cancer results in dramatically improved survival.3View the original paper by Thomsen and colleagues.
