POETICS OF THE BASHKIR FOLK EPIC "URAL-BATYR"

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the poetics of the Bashkir folk epic "Ural-batyr". "Ural-batyr", created by the genius of the people on the basis of ancient mythology, is an invaluable monument not only of Bashkir but also of world culture. It reflects the ideas of the eternity of life and peace on earth, the idea of prosperity, the idea of the victory of light over darkness, the triumph of good over evil. The high artistic merits of the epic, the heroic character of the content, are expressed in poetic language and epic style. The style of the Bashkir epic is characterized by numerous repetitions, epic formulas, complex comparisons, constant epithets, hyperboles, metaphors. Means of figurative expressiveness, used in the epic, are not simple ornaments, but stem from the inner needs of folk tales, from the general requirements of epic imagery. All the artistic means used in the epic "Ural-batyr" bear a certain burden in the disclosure of certain aspects of the events described. And consideration of even some of the artistic features of the epic allows us to assert that this work was created in the best traditions of the classical epic.
