El Madrid subjetivo de Isidora, La desheredada de Galdós
Abstract
In most of Galdós novels, the realistic description of inner and exterior, public and private spaces of the city doesn’t end with the narrator’s objective perspective, but is completed by the subjective sight of the characters, that mould and deform the urban landscape according to their wishes, prejudices and obsessions. In La desheredada, the space has an essential function, as it is the mirror of the extreme imagination of the main character, and her conviction of being noble moves her to avoid some neighbourhoods and houses and to dream of others, in a constant fight between reality and desire.
