Recent archeological data, from aerial photography in particular, and toponymic inferences have enabled us to reconstitute in its essentials the layout of the road Auch-Eauze, from the city of the Ausci to the Besino of the Peutinger Table. The road stations of Vanesia and Besino mentioned in the antique sources have been located, the former with absolute certainty thanks to the aerial photography of the site, and with a fair amount of likelihood for the latter. Lastly, the excavation carried out on the road at the mutatio Vanesia of the Bordeaux to Jerusalem Itinerary has revealed two superimposed causeways of very different composition : the older one is provided with a road metal of large blocks, the latter one is covered over with a simple road metal.
