D vitamine metabolites are necessary nutrients for the human body, they perform important functions. Vitamin D deficiency leads to the development of many somatic diseases, as well as diseases of the periodontal tissues. Pleiotropic effects of vitamin D on periodontal tissues include the impact on parodontopatogens, regulation of the immune response and metabolism of the skeletal system.
