Angiolipoma of the first intermetatarsal space – A case study
Abstract
Angiolipoma is considered a benign tumor of soft tissue combining mature adipocytes with collections of thin-walled vessels. Angiolipomas are classified as either infiltrating or non-infiltrating. Currently, only 5 reports/studies of angiolipomas of the foot have been published in the English literature. In this report, we discuss a symptomatic non- infiltrating angiolipoma of the foot in a 58-year-old female with magnetic resonance imaging findings. The tumor was surgically excised and histopathological examination confirmed an angiolipoma. No recurrence of the lesion has occurred 12 months postoperatively.
