Barriers to reporting nursing job errors from nurses’ viewpoint
Abstract
Introduction: Working errors are inevitable in every profession including health care professions, but in nursing, it s of greater importance. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine barriers to reporting nursing job errors from nurses viewpoint. Methods: In this descriptive study, 92 nurses who working in Fatemeh Zahra hospital of Najaf Abad in 2008 were selected. Data were collected by self-designed questionnaire. SPSS soft ware and descriptive statistics were used for analyzing the data. Results: Data showed that from nurses' point of view in the domain of nurse –related," Legal problems" had the highest score (4.64) and in the domain of management "inappropriate nurse manager reaction "had the highest score (4.27) .Also 95.6% of them reported that reporting of job errors is essential. Conclusion: Regarding impossibility of suppression of nursing errors, struggle for controlling nursing errors depends on using a systematic approach with emphasis on management and nursing care.
