Abstract Interpretation is among common characteristics of mystical and Quranic texts. In this paper, various classifications for interpretation are presented through focusing on interpretations of Sanai’s famous work, Hadighah. Interpretations of Hadighah may be explored in two main groups of direct and indirect interpretations. Also, these interpretations are divided into three types of “audience based”, “author/speaker based”, and “context based” with regards to the mindset of audience, author, and context. In studying the inmost level of Hadighah’s interpretations, it can be realized that sometimes these levels are multilayer and nested. Hence, the topic of “different levels of interpretation” is referred to. Allegory is of great importance in Hadighah. Sanai has expressed the inmost (interpretative) meaning of many Hadighah allegories rather in the form of direct interpretation; however, sometimes the breadth of the meaning of allegory is in such a way that the reader can also express some other levels of interpretation with regards to the context and his or her mindset. The purpose and innovations of this research include exploring the interpretations of Hadighah from the perspective of semantics and with regards to the mindset; as well as exploring different levels of interpretation. Interpretation of Divine Verses; interpretation of the stories of Prophets; Hadith and quotes by important figures; mystical principles and terminology;and ethical insights, are the most outstanding interpretative topics in Hadighah.
