Abstract

How to capture the complexity of ideas during data collection when access to the field is limited? The current literature on online or digital methods does not address this issue, being more devoted to the description of the technical problems encountered. In order to document the conditions favourable to this type of data collection, 38 health and social services professionals participated in online group interviews, accompanied by individual follow-up. The results of the content analysis show that the synchronous online group interview is a relevant method for capturing the reflective process of a group. The attention paid to the climate of exchange, the reduction of power relations and the individualised follow-up are favourable conditions for an efficient data collection.
