Elevated intracranial pressure (ICP) is a potentially devastating complication which requires prompt recognition. The best therapy for raised intracranial pressure is resolution of the cause. Regardless of the cause, treatment should be undertaken as quickly as possible, and should be based on the principles of resuscitation, reduction of the volume of the intracranial contents, and reassessment. Emergency management of a patient with raised intracranial pressure is reviewed here in brief.
