Lógica de la abstracción política entre Hegel y el estoicismo

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to trace the common logical elements that exist between the current European socio-political situation and the historical epoch of the transition between the Republic and the Roman Empire, as studied and analyzed by G. W. F. Hegel, particularly in his analysis of the defining characteristics of Stoicism in Rome. A detailed study of these structural coincidences, as well as of the role played in both epochs by concepts such as violence, abstraction, limit and indignation, can lead us to a better understanding of the present situation, and to understand to what extent the primarily logical inadequacies of the current forms of government and representation (but also – in a specular way – of those of resistance and rebellion) can be solved. By virtue of this understanding from a philosophy of history, it will be possible to fulfill the famous Hegelian dictum on the rationality of the real and the reality of the rational, that is: the transformation of the merely existing into an effective reality adequate to the criteria of rationality and justice of our time.
