Lo mítico en «Coloquio con Juan Ramón Jiménez», de José Lezama Lima

Abstract

This article examines «Coloquio con Juan Ramón Jiménez» (1937), the first essay published by José Lezama Lima, with a view to demonstrating how the ideas the essay expresses on cultural identity and poetic expression can be better understood if one considers the epistemological foundations of his thought are very much akin to those underlying mythical thought. The essay, then, is approached from the standpoint of symbolic theory of myth.
