Timpul parusiei în învățăturile lui Isus Hristos (partea I)
Abstract
In parallel with the formation of millennial dreams in Europe and America, the 19th century witnessed how rationalism, secularism, and skepticism permeated NT studies, including eschatology. The quest for the historical Jesus revealed a non-supernatural Christ, made supernatural in the fabric of the primitive Christian church. From here, a whole chain of reactions emerged. Consistent eschatology, existential eschatology, and inaugurated eschatology, were all different modes of expressing what the NT language tells about Jesus and the end of times. That these were not completely satisfactory is visible from the fact that other types of eschatologies were proposed afterwards. Scholars and public have polarized around three such versions: preterist, futurist, and secular. The study shows that a fresh look at the teachings of Jesus regarding the end-times is imperiously necessary.
