The work presents modern view on the use of the different non-invasive methods aimed at assessment of the structural and functional state of bone, in particular X-ray densitometry, in patients with osteogenesis imperfecta. Based on the application of X-ray densitometry in 22 patients with osteogenesis imperfecta we found a violation of the structural and functional state of bone tissue and significant loss of bone mass; it was noted that the degree of bone loss depends on the type of disease. The authors suppose that use of X-ray densitometry, in children and adolescents is mandatory and reasonable when examining patients with osteogenesis imperfecta that makes possible to assess objectively the changes in bone tissue and to approach properly to the orthopedic rehabilitation system in this group of patients.
