Photon's Orbital Angular Momentum and Its Application Research on Quantum Computing
Abstract
Due to its spiral phase and high-dimensional quantum characteristics, the Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) of photons holds great potential for applications in quantum computing. This article reviews the existing research and provides an overview of the significant developmental history of OAM and its applications across various fields. It details the quantum logic gates for OAM and their experimental implementations, including high-dimensional NOT-gate, SWAP-gate, and CONTROL-gate, among others. Additionally, several quantum algorithms based on OAM are introduced. In recent years, research on OAM in quantum computing has emerged as a hot topic. However, this field is still in its developmental stage, with numerous technical and theoretical challenges to be addressed. It is believed that with the advancements in science and technology, OAM will have very broad development prospects in the future.
