Formes narratives et jugement

Abstract

In this article, the author attempts to define several forms of public appearances of identity by relating them to public judgment. The hypothesis that is defended is that the events told in a "self-narrative" (whether or not in the first person) are in the context of a relationship of reciprocal inquiries. This relationship shapes the way in which identity is constituted, at the same time as it calls the audience to respond in different ways, which constitute different forms of public judgments. Narrative, recitation and story are thus distinguished. This link between identity and judgment is illustrated by examples drawn from the print media and then by the analysis of a youtube video.
