Pharmaceutical Study of Saindhavadi Taila

Introduction: Sneha kalpana is the only dosage form that can be taken conveniently both internally and topically, making it a crucial component of treatment. Saindhavadi Taila is one of the formulations mentioned in Charaka chikitsa sthana, Urustambha chikitsa which is supposed to be beneficial in Gridhrasi/Sciatica. The ingredients are Saindhava lavana, Sunthi, Pippali mula, Chitraka, Bhallataka, Aranala (Kanji), and Tila taila. Methods: Aranala nirmana, Chitraka shodhana, Bhallataka shodhana, followed by Churna Nirmana, Kalka Nirmana, and Taila Paka are the main pharmaceutical processes used to prepare Saindhavadi Taila. Results: Three hundred and thirty-four milliliters of taila were obtained with a loss of 50 ml. Conclusion: Shodhana helps to remove the toxic nature of drugs and enhances the therapeutic properties. The presence of ingredients such as Kanji, Chitraka, and Bhallataka makes this formulation unique. Saindhavadi Taila is an effective formulation for the management of Gridhrasi.
