CLIO NO ULTRAMAR: elements of Portuguese historiography in the sixteenth-century narratives of the "Dutch war"
Abstract
The article examines how the legacy of Portuguese historiography echoes in the narratives of the Dutch presence in the South Atlantic (1630-1654), indicating that, although these works must be read in dialogue with their specific historical contexts, their ideas about the writing of history and some rhetorical elements that characterize them are inspired in a historiography paradigm with deep roots in Iberia.
