Who created Réaumur’s thermometer scale?

Abstract

Three different thermometer scales which were defined in the 18th century are still known today: the ones of Fahrenheit, Réaumur and Celsius. But it turns out that Réaumur's scale as it is known today was not created by Réaumur but by Jean Andre Deluc. This note tries to explain why Deluc's name is forgotten today, and why Deluc's scale has become known as Réaumur's scale.
