Castleman’s Disease in a patient with chronic cervical lymphadenopathy: A case report
Abstract
Castleman’s disease (CD) is an uncommon benign disease that causes progressive lymph node hyperplasia in various localizations. Although it is most commonly characterized by mediastinal mass, isolated cervical lymphadenopathy is seen about 6% of the patients. In this study a 16 years old female with complaint of a progressively enlarging right sided neck mass is presented. About 3x3 cm diameter round, semi-fixed and rubbery dense mass was observed in the physical examination. We excised the mass totally and histopathological examination of the excisional biopsy specimen revealed the diagnosis of CD. Although CD is an uncommon cause of cervical lyphadenopathy, it must be considered in differential diagnosis of the patients with recurrent or chronic persistent lymphadenopathy.
