Tanaka, Hashimoto et al., investigate the effect of two phytohormones, strigolactone and jasmonate on the growth and the sporulation of the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus Rhizophagus clarus. Their results show that inoculation of asymbiotically-generated spores promote the growth of host plants and shed light on hormonal control of the fungal life cycle.
