Based on the theory of definitions in logic and philosophy, this paper attempts to analyze the key term "absorption" in mystical and literary texts. In doing so, the aim is to identify inherent features of absorption overlooked by previous studies. This paper examines mystic definitions and statements regarding the mystical term "absorption" found in Persian and Arabic mystical writings up to the end of the 8th century. The approach used is an analytical descriptive one. There is no text that provides a comprehensive definition of absorption features. In this study, the original texts and related expressions are examined in order to provide a more comprehensive analysis of absorption and its inherent features. Similarly, this principle may be applied to other mystical terminologies.
