Contribution to the knowledge of the morphology of pollen grains of the most common genera of the Euphorbiaceae family in Mexico
Abstract
In this work, the morphological study of the pollen grains of 51 species corresponding to 47 genera of the Euphorbiaceae family is made. In the species selected for this study, it was found that most of them have tricolporated pollen grains, often with transverse grooves. The ornamentation that occurs most frequently in the microspores studied is the reticular, followed in importance by the gemate (with the Croton pattern) and to a lesser extent the per-reticular, psilate, equine and baculate. The pollen grains of some species can be easily differentiated, as in the case of Acalypha flagellata, Alchornea latifolia, Adelia barbinervis, Caperonia casteneifolia, Drypetes brownei, Hura polyandra, Mabea accidenta/is, Phyllanthus adenodiscus, Reverchonia arenaria, Sapium macrocarpum and Tetrorchidium rotundatum.
