The Influence of Special Economic Zones on Polish Regions Development on the Region of Lodz Example

The main aim of establishing Special Economic Zones (SEZs) is, among others, preventing the marginalization of less developed regions. The studies’ results, concerning the impact of SEZs on the economy are equivocal. The main aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of SEZs on the regional economy development on the region of Lodz example. Study is based on the statistical data, gathered from the Central Statistical Office for the period 2007–2013. The results indicate that SEZs have a positive influence on entrepreneurship development at regional level measured by the level of investment expenses and value of production sold.
