Uma poliglota entre dois reinos: Luísa Sigeia (1522‑1560) e a sua passagem pelas cortes portuguesa e espanhola

Abstract

In this article, we propose to investigate the life of the puellae doctae in the Iberian courts, and their relationship through the perspective of Luisa Sigea (1522‑1560). To do so, we aim to know: a) what it meant for this learned woman to be at the service of the courts at various times in her own distinctive fashion; b) how she presents herself symbolically before this universe. We will strive to examine her vision of the court while seeking to understand her trajectories, forms of power, influences and recognition from her inner circle of intellectual colleagues and from cultured people outside that circle; c) and, finally, what were her chances of social survival as a woman of letters.
