Representative government is always described as lacking, weak and so to speak on the edge of the abyss. Through analysis of the consequences of the social movements of the 2001 in Argentina, this article thinks the robustness of representative government. In engineering, a system is considered robust when it remains efficient despite major disruptions. Representative institutions are understood as aimed primarily governmentality and distinct from democracy. This allows thinking anew about the question of the “crisis of representation”.
