As early as April 1960, the United States adopted a secret program intending to overthrow Fidel Castro. The priority of this operation was that it be carried out in absolute secrecy so as to be able to publicly deny any involvement in a project against a Latin American government. Washington was resolutely determined to neutralize the Cuban power, which had expressed through words and deeds its desire to free itself definitively from its tutelage and to establish less asymmetrical links with its powerful neighbor, in order to stem the influence of the Cuban Revolution in Latin America and around the world.
