Primary acquired gastric outlet obstruction (Jodhpur disease)

Abstract

The primary acquired gastric outlet obstruction during infancy and childhood is also known as Jodhpur disease. This disease was first described in 1997 in Jodhpur, India. It is a very rare clinical condition and only 22 cases have been reported in the medical literature till date. We, recently, managed a case of this clinical entity in a 6 years old child successfully. It was found, per-operatively, to be associated with partial intestinal malrotation and was complicated by adhesive intestinal obstruction post-operatively which had to be managed surgically. In view of the extreme rarity of this condition and even rarer association with intestinal malrotation, the case is being reported here with review of available medical literature.
