Construction of Marine National Cultural Park: Significance, Current Challenges and Direction Paths
Abstract
The report of the Twentieth National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposes to “build and make good use of national cultural parks”, which provides a historic opportunity for the inheritance and development of the spirit of marine culture. As an important carrier of marine culture inheritance and marine heritage protection, marine national cultural parks are of great significance in strengthening the marine genes of Chinese culture, enhancing the awareness of marine culture, prompting marine cultural identity, and promoting the innovative development of marine ecological civilization. The creation of China’s marine national cultural park has a good foundation, but it still faces problems and challenges such as “the lack of consensus on the spirit of national marine culture, the dearth of Land-sea coordination for the protection of marine cultural heritage, and the relationship between the marine national cultural park and the nature reserve system that needs to be clarified”. In this regard, the paper proposes in-depth research on the spirit of marine culture, systematic investigation of marine cultural resources, promoting the innovative development of the marine cultural industry, building on the experience of existing parks, and setting up a regional pilot of the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea National Cultural Park, which provides methodological paths and management decision-making references for the construction of the marine national cultural park.
