This article analyzes the use and appropriation of a new mass transportation infrastructure, Lima Metro, within the mobility routines of the youth of San Juan de Lurigancho. The article explores how this new mode of transport, inaugurated since 2014 in this peripheral district of the city, impacts the mobility routines of these young people, as well as its influence on the representations of the city, in relation to the shortening of distances, assessment and connection of spaces. Evidence is presented that trips from this sector are characterized by their great complexity and accessibility problems of different kinds. These require the active participation of the subjects to decide/act based on their knowledge about the operation of transport in the city. The study also suggests that this new transport system redefines the time-distance dimensions and the proximity to goods and services, generating a type of inclusiveness in the dynamics of the city, despite the bad travel conditions.
