Ferdinand de Saussure and the production of the object of the Discourse Analysis
Abstract
The main historians from French discourse analysis are unanimous in declare that the discourse theory rests on some Ferdinad de Saussure essencial concepts. The founder texts from this investigation field, in turn, goes in the same way. This paper main objective is to contribute about the problemematic relation between the French discourse analysis and the Saussure formulations, mainly focusing on how Michel Pêcheux did the reading from the renowed linguist enables the theoric object discourse production. Our point of view consists in consider that an important comprehension key from the Saussure linguistic relation with the discourse theory could be found when you have the Pêcheux theoretical project knowledge and from the theoretical-epistemological who chairs the discourse analysis production as a knowledge field. Adopting a historical perspective, we will discuss questions that are yet marked by misunderstanding and incomprehenssions nowadays, such as: Which is the Saussure discourse theory concepts right place? Where does the thought about Saussure discourse theory work emerge concretely? Why does Pêcheux took Saussure as base for the theory discourse construction? Is there continuity or discontinuity (rupture) between discourse analysis and Saussure? Does the discourse concept is the reformulation from the saussurean speech concept? The basis of Saussure's (and other linguists) thinking necessarily implies an insertion of discourse analysis as a branch of linguistics? --- DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.22409/gragoata.2017n44a1019
