A comprehensive analysis of tramway system carrying capacity modeling
Abstract
The current state of transport systems of Russian cities is featured by the increasing number of motor vehicles, which increases the negative impact on the environment. To reduce this impact, it is necessary to develop a system of urban public transportation based on the use of “green technologies”. The streetcar is one such type of transportation. The use of modern materials and technologies in the design and implementation of the tramway network infrastructure, creation of rolling stock provides a reduction in the load on the ecological state of urban areas and favorably affects the health of citizens. Moscow implements programs to improve the tramway system, but there are problems ensuring a gradual and insignificant growth of such passenger traffic. The paper develops the concept of increasing the carrying and throughput capacity of the tramway system, which is based on the modernization of stopping points. For this purpose, the key processes affecting the state of the system are analyzed, qualitative and quantitative characteristics are established and the corresponding simulation model is developed. It makes it possible to assess changes in the states of the system and its specific objects at a given interval of time and changing characteristics.
