This is a Narrative Research, whose textual corpus was constituted by testimonies of graduates of the Science Club of the Federal University of Pará (CCIUFPA). To obtain the information contained in the testimonies, the association of the IRAMUTEQ software with Discursive Textual Analysis (ATD) was used. We aim to understand and explain this association and the approximations between the procedures. Thus, through the analysis of similitude and word clouds, with ATD criteria, there was the emergence of three categories: The teacher and his training within the scope of CCIUFPA; CCIUFPA: a place of teacher training; The purpose of teacher training at CCIUFPA. We conclude that the association adopted in narrative research using testimony is potentially significant, provided that the researcher values the multiplicity of existing voices, understands that IRAMUTEQ is a tool and that the formation and analysis of categories depends on its immersion in the material, on the theoretical bases adopted and on its interpretation as a researcher.
