Une ombre qui veille
Abstract
In this interview, Elgas analyzes the place of Léopold Sédar Senghor in his essay Les bons ressentiments. Essai sur le malaise post-colonial (Riveneuve éditions, 2023), dedicated to Franco-African relations. Elgas makes him the paradigm of the “alienated”, of the “other”, and devotes the first chapter of his essay to him. Going back over what these accusations of alienation mean, Elgas describes the complex and ambivalent memory of Senegal first president, in the light of the relationship between literature and politics. Senghor may be hated in Senegal today, but he remains “a shadow that keeps eatch”.
