In this study, studies of Tuncer Gülensoy on Altaistic and Mongolian Folklore are explained. Gülensoy is a scientist who believes that Turkish, Mongolian, Manchu-Tungus, Korean and Japanese languages are relatives and studies in this field. Gülensoy has stated in all his studies that exclusive studies on Mongolian should be carried out for a better understanding of affinity between Altaic languages. Gülensoy has conducted many studies on Mongolian language besides his studies on common characteristics of Altaic languages. Gülensoy is the first scientist to study for a doctorate on Mongolian in Turkey. He translated “Altan Topçi”, the second most important piece of Mongolians, into Turkish. Gülensoy, as well as conducting many studies on Mongolian, has also carried out many studies on Mongolian Folklore. In these studies, Gülensoy has revealed similarities with regard to culture, customs, mythology, legends, art of military, belief and names of persons that are common for Turkish and Mongolian people. We have given place to 14 articles of Gülensoy in total in our study, being 6 studies on Altaistic and 8 studies on Mongolian folklore.
