The municipal mass media in the Crimea media space structure
Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of the Crimean information space features before the republic comprisal to the Russian Federation and the municipal printed mass media role in it in particular. The municipal mass media share in the Crimean information market and the coverage of the audience are considered in the article. It is pointed out that the municipal mass media remained one of the most popular sources of information due to the low level of the Internet prevalence as well as the habit of media consumption and considerable readers’ credit to the local newspapers. Informing the public about the activities of local authorities as well as explaining the provisions of the current legislation and normative legal acts may be considered, according to the author, the key functions entrusted to the Crimea municipal media. The author draws attention to the fact that the municipal media provide information about socially significant events in the Crimea. The study specifies the features of information processing and presentation by creative collectives of municipal newspapers. In particular, newspapers genre palette is characterized by the predominance of informational and literary publicistic genres.
