Generational relief for the continuity of family coffee production. Case of the municipality of Albán, Nariño, Colombia

The generational relief is a problematic inside the agricultural production that needs to be recognized and addressed. This article presents the results of the investigation done in the ambit of the farmer families dedicated to the coffee production in Alban’s municipality of Narino, which objective was to recognize the perspective from children and parents, coffee producers versus the generational relief and analyze what factors allows or blocks it so that would happen or not. Through a mixed-imbricated investigative design, developing a qualitative investigation, starting from the analysis of semi structured interviews done to parents, children and public and private institutions related with the coffee maker activity, and with the support of quantitative data, it was able to determine which was the current situation of relief in the municipality. In Alban, the generational relief it is not a current problem for the coffee maker activity yet, but nevertheless, it can be, produce the grain requires higher and enough warranties for the producers to give continuity to the main activity that contributes the social and economical development of the municipality.
