Rules for the fuzzy system modelling the rock mass strength

Abstract

The tunnelling machine acts as a very complex system in the interaction with rock masses. The identification of significant properties provides a prediction of the excavation performance in complicated geological conditions, which forms the aim of presented article. The excavation performance of the tunnelling machine affects the cost effectiveness of tunnel excavation in a very special manner. As the field of geotechnics often emerges with a certain ambiguity and vagueness, we have decided to establish the fuzzy sets and fuzzy logics in the problem solution.
