Surge of Miller Fisher variant and Guillain‐Barré syndrome in two downtown Los Angeles community teaching hospitals

Abstract

Abstract Guillain‐Barré syndrome (GBS) and Miller Fisher variant (MFv) cases spiked threefold in Los Angeles, with a high proportion of MFv cases. MFv is underdiagnosed when accompanying neurological symptoms are mild. This report emphasizes the seasonality of GBS and its relation to ganglioside antibodies.
