Intracerebral hemorrhage is a series of clinical syndromes which is caused by pathological changes and rupture of cerebrovascular wall under the impact of various pathogenic factors. The main pathological mechanisms of brain injury after intracerebral hemorrhage include the destruction of blood-brain barrier, brain edema, oxidative stress in the lesion area, overexpression of inflammatory factors, apoptosis, autophagy and the initiation of iron death process. Various studies have confirmed that many traditional Chinese medicine can improve the pathological injury related to intracerebral hemorrhage. In this study we outline the treatments and effects of traditional Chinese medicines and extracts on their corresponding pathological mechanisms of brain injury, and summarize their molecular pathways and targets, so as to provide some reference for the fundamental research of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of intracerebral hemorrhage, and look forward to further tapping the clinical potential of traditional Chinese medicine.
