The influence of the Hague Conventions on Private International Law on harmonization of Serbian Law with the EU Law in the child protection matter
Abstract
The emergence and development of cross-border protection of children in the EU indicate that only the ratification of the conventions that occur under the auspices of the Hague Conference can create an effective system of children in Private International Law. In the same time, the author considers that, following the legislative activity of the EU in the framework of the Hague Conference and the ratification of the Hague conventions which has acceded to the EU, can substantially achieve unification and harmonization of our PIL with EU PIL in matters of child protection. Thus, taking into account the efforts made towards creating new Serbian Private International Law Act, inspired by the Hague and European experience, our state can create a new and modern national system of PIL.
